Harvard Institute Fellow Speaks on Women's Suffrage Movement in American Society

Author and women’s rights activist Dr. Elisabeth Griffith discussed American women and their fight for equality February 23 as part of the Spring 2023 James and Mary Clare Sczepaniak Endowed Lecture Series.

In this lecture, Griffith spoke on her book “Formidable: American Women and the Fight for Equality, 1920-2020.” It provides a sweeping, century-long perspective and an expansive cast of change agents in the fight by white and Black women to achieve equality

The legacy of Jim and Mary Clare Sczepaniak lives on through scholarships, Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç enhancements, and now, the James P. ’60 and Mary C. Sczepaniak Lecture Series presented by the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç History Department. Visit  for more information about Jim Sczepaniak.

The James P. ’60 and Mary C. Sczepaniak Lecture Series was presented as a part of Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s Arts & Ideas Program, providing cultural and educational programming for students and the community.
