Internships help history majors gain hands-on experience in the workplace, making them more attractive job candidates after graduation. Our history degree students have interned at such local historical agencies such as:

Morgan Jennings
Adelmann Regional History Collection
- Scanned 35mm film negatives of Joliet and the region
- Digitized content and created metadata that makes the images searchable online
Morgan served as the student coordinator (2022-2023) for the “Reclaiming the Narrative” grant from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation. She plans on graduating in Fall 2023 and attending graduate school to study the History of the Middle East.

Joycelyn Davila

- Collaborated on “Lockport on View: Canal Community,” focuses on images of the headquarters of the Illinois and Michigan Canal. (Exhibit)
- Assisted with “Visions of the I&M Canal NHC at 30,” the second exhibit, captures the scope of the canal corridor from Chicago to LaSalle. (Exhibit)

Samantha Glackin

- Organized the Bruce Cheadle papers
- Digitized and created metadata
Currently, Samantha teaches world history at Alleman High School in Rock Island, IL. “Now being a high school teacher, I am able to incorporate artifacts, local history, and place-based learning into the curriculum. Without the internship, I never would have had the appreciation that I do for those things,” said Glackin.
