Admission Requirements

Students applying for admission to the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MSSLP) program at Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç must meet the following admission criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), or bachelor’s degree in another field of study plus prerequisite CSD coursework, including coursework in:

    1. Anatomy and physiology of communication and hearing mechanisms
    2. Speech and hearing science
    3. Normal development of speech, language, and hearing
    4. Phonetics
    5. Aural rehabilitation
    6. Per ASHA certification standards for SLPs, all applicants must have taken one course in each of the following content areas.  Each course must be outside the CSD major:
      • Statistics (stand-alone course; not incorporated into a research methods or other related course)
      • Biological science, related to human or animal science (biology, anatomy/physiology, neuroanatomy/neurophysiology, human genetics, veterinary science)
      • Physical science (chemistry, physics)
      • Social science (psychology, sociology, anthropology, public health)
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 for full admission, or 2.75 for provisional admission
  • Minimum major GPA (in all CSD courses, including a minimum of four completed courses at time of consideration) of 3.0
  • Interview, by invitation, based on review of application (in-person or virtual formats available).
  • One spontaneous writing sample, obtained during interview
