Clubs & Student Organizations
Form professional connections and valuable friendships by joining the American Sociology Association (ASA), the Midwest Sociological Association or the Illinois Sociological Association.
Many Sociology students are active in community service programs such as the campus sustainability club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Black Student Union, the Latin American Student Organization, as well as campus sororities and fraternities.
Participate in the recently founded Students for Progressive Change (SPC) and help build this new student organization from the ground up. Students for Progressive Change is a club focused on making a positive impact on campus and in the surrounding communities. Our goal is to bring awareness to injustices happening around us every day. We find ways to provide support to organizations that are creating change or helping those in need.
In the past, SPC has tie-dyed t-shirts for the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet, hosted a reusable straw sale to raise funds for benches and picnic tables made from plastic bottle caps, written holiday cards for faculty and staff, created fleece tie blankets for the Children’s Advocacy Center, and so much more! With our help these organizations can provide their best services. Each semester, we have one social to socialize and have fun. SPC is all about community and building relationships.
